Buffalo, NY dentist explains the benefits of dental implants to patients in the 14225 area

Dentist explaining dental implant procedure

Missing teeth can significantly impact a patient’s self-esteem in a negative way. Regardless of how the teeth were lost – whether because of tooth decay or gum disease, or because of trauma to the tooth during a fall or accident, or even simply due to the effects of aging – losing a tooth is never a happy occasion. However in some cases it can’t be avoided or prevented. While a damaged tooth, or teeth, may not be able to be saved it doesn’t mean that patients have to live with gaps in their smile for the rest of their lives. Instead there are several great options for replacing missing teeth including crown and bridge appliances, dentures, or dental implants.

Dr. Gordon Kent of the Smile Center in Buffalo, NY, has been helping patients in the 14255 area restore their smile and get back their confidence with dental implants. In simple terms, a dental implant is a replacement tooth root that is inserted through the gum and into the jawbone. It grows into the jawbone to become sturdy and secure. When the bone has healed, a replacement tooth is attached to the post which gives the patient a complete smile that looks and functions exactly like the original tooth.

There are several benefits to dental implants, including:

  • Durability: While the healing process does take some time, once it’s complete the implant is there to stay. It’s strong and durable and can hold up to patient’s eating their favorite foods.
  • Function: Unlike other tooth replacement methods, dental implants give patients the confidence to smile brightly and speak clearly. There are fewer concerns about slipping or breaking with dental implants allowing patients to feel confident in both one-on-one situations or in a roomful of people.
  • Appearance: The replacement tooth is created uniquely for each patient ensuring that the replacement tooth matches the remaining teeth exactly in shape and shade. Once it’s placed no one will ever need to know that the tooth isn’t an original tooth.

Dental implants are a great choice for patients who want a “set it and forget it” solution for missing teeth. Not only does the implant look great and feel great, it can be a nearly permanent solution as implants typically last for many years. I hate the dentist like a lot of people do but this place makes it painless and easy. They have a lot of the newest equipment, they accept my insurance and I can get an appointment when I need it without a hassle.
