Anxiety is something that many of our patients struggle with when it comes to dental procedures like tooth replacement. We offer enteral (oral) sedation to help patients relax and receive the gentle dental care they need.
What is oral sedation?
Oral conscious sedation relaxes a patient for stress-free tooth replacement. If you start hyperventilating at the mention of the dentist, you could probably benefit from sedation. This reduction in anxiety can allow our patients to receive the care they need and deserve.
How oral sedation works?
Oral conscious sedation is a medication that is prescribed and taken prior to coming in for a procedure. You will need to make sure to have a ride to and from the office. Once you arrive at the office you will be completely conscious and alert, however the sedative will have you feeling relaxed and unconcerned. You will be able to answer questions, walk, and respond to simple instructions. Once the procedure is complete, you will be driven home and will be given instructions to rest. Most patients have little to no memory of the appointment.
Oral sedation can help patients with mild to extreme fear of the dentist.
At Smile Center, we want patients in Buffalo to enjoy oral health and make visiting the dentist to be a positive experience. We find many patients who are need of restorations often avoid the dentist out of fear which makes the situation worth. With sedation, we can offer the gentle care you need to restore your smile and your oral health.
Whether the thought of a procedure makes you fearful or even if you are consumed by anxiety over a general check-up, we can put you on the path to relaxing in our office with sedation dentistry. Call us today at to learn more.
